Sweet Harvest Farms version of Lip Balm for hydrated smoother lips!

Who likes chapped lips? No one! So we buy whatever we can without really giving any consideration (or at least much consideration) to the active ingredients within. Lip Balms give comfort, and can make dry parched lips even drier. That's because most commercial brands are 75% bees wax which makes lips even drier. In other words dehydrating enough that you want to re-apply (you want that soothing feeling over and over) but every time you apply it you dehydrate your lips even more. It may feel soothing on chapped lips but it most likely creating those pesky lip lines

Winter brings the cold and damp which make things worse. Summer is not any better with the hot sun beating down and making you want to lick your lips for moisture. Your balm may promise relief but what you are paying for may not be helping the situation.                                                                                                            

Lip balms that contain Humectants such as Hyaluronic Acid or Glycerin and Bees Wax make already dry lips worse." says, Dermatologist Leslie Bauman, M.D. "They actually pull the moisture from your skin!"

We, here at Sweet Harvest Farms, use Humectants like Organic Shea Butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, and Organic Castor Oil Shea to create a physical barrier to prevent water loss. We also add organic Vitamin E and just the tiniest pinch of Bees Wax (Occlusive). Humectants hold on to water, and Occlusives keep it from evaporating,” explains Dr. Baumann. "Without Occlusives, the moisture that the Humectants pull out simply vanishes on the surface of the skin, leaving lips drier than they were in the first place". It doesn't mean you should avoid Humectants in your lip balm, you just need to make sure it also has occlusive agents as well.

Then there are Cermaides that hold skin together to form a protective layer helping to prevent moisture loss and damage from cold, dry, and other environmental stressors. Ceramide also help to keep your skin supple. All the oils we use contain these as well.

We have developed a recipe that leaves your lips soothed and supple without have to re-apply over and over. We refer to it as "Lip Smoothie" NOT Lip Balm! The little glass tub will last for months and months since very little is needed. You may use a q-tip or a clean finger to apply. Can go under or ever your lipstick as well.

*Jojoba oil contain 96% of ceramides while also containing antibacterial and anti- inflammatory properties.

*Shea Butter too is high in ceramides and help with deep reconstructing and balancing of your skins natural oils.

*Castor oil not only adds shine but also penetrates the skin to fight bacteria that can clog pores while hydrating at the same time.

*Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer and it helps keep the moisture of your lips intact keeping them soft, hydrated and can also reduce inflammation caused by sun damage.

*Vitamin E (Tocopherol) is an anti-oxidant that helps to repair damaged tissue.

Our Lip Smoothie recipe combines all these ingredients that will make a difference in your "puckering power"! We don't use fancy-shmancy synthetic flavored oils either. A simple organic Peppermint/Lemongrass essential oil is just enough to  say "Hmm-mmm good"!

That's a big punch for a 0.50 ounce glass container but because you will not have to apply it over and over during the day (like other products out there) it will last and last.

Once consider the scent of "hippies" and flower children" of the 60's, some find it too strong but I had so many request for Patchouli scented soap that I finally decided to take the plunge!

Patchouli can often be "off-putting" but I have managed to find just the right blend of oils to make this one "just right"! A throw back to the 60's without the "in your face" scent. My customers are pleased and many who don't like Patchouli love ours!

Raze Acne Blemish Organic Handmade Soap

Sweet Harvest Farms organic handmade Raze Acne Blemish soap is made with saponified Organic oils of Shea Butter, Coconut oil, Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Palm Oil (sustainable) along with Vitamin E and Rosemary Extract, Willow Bark (Brewed into a tea and added to the soap.

Willow Bark contains natural Salicylic Acid which is excellent for oily skin, blemishes and acne This is a botanical and natural alternative to the synthetic Salicylic acid you find commercially which is made in a lab so it is chemical and preservative laden.

Natural salicylic acid is also good to use to help diminish the appearance of Keratosis Pilaris.

Even though this soap  may not contain a large amount of organic and natural salicylic, we still advise not use if allergic to aspirin or other salicylate-containing drugs. Do not administer to children or adolescents with viral infections due to the possibility of Reye's syndrome. 

There is no complete cure for Acne but the Willow Bark in this Raze soap can help. It is best to use a soft bristle face brush when washing your face with this soap. Rinse brush with hot water and allow to air dry after each use. Our customers have reported seeing a huge improvement in their skin and ability to control breakouts after using this miracle bar of soap! Rosemary Mint Organic Handmade Soap

Crushed dried Rosemary within and sprinkled on top this soap actually smells like an After Hours Mint, even though there is no chocolate!! This is absolutely delightful to use first thing in the morning! A great way to start the day! Yummy! If you like fresh Mint or Rosemary you will love this one!

Oh Baby Oh Diaper Balm

I have had many refer to how we formulate our diaper rash cream as "diaper ointment from the God's!" We believe, that less is not more, in this case. The more organic and necessary ingredients combined can help soothe and promote healing rather than just a few that do nothing but dry the skin out causing chapping and the flaking of skin.

Sweet Harvest Farms will never use any petroleum or mineral oil derivatives to include lanolin. The occlusive nature of petroleum and mineral oil can create a warm, moist environment for yeast and fungus to grow.

Likewise, we choose not to use Zinc Oxide that is normally found in many cosmetic products to include sunscreen and diaper cream.

Some fear zinc oxide due to the perceived health risks of zinc oxide nano particles entering the bloodstream. However, research as shown zinc oxide particles which are larger than 30nm are not absorbed by the body when used in lotions or creams. We just don't like taking that chance and we choose to use just a tad of 100% pure beeswax to help form a barrier against moisture.

Organic Oils of :

Shea Butter - Shea Butter works as an emollient that softens and hydrates skin. Because it contains several types of fatty acids — including Lineoleic, Oleic, Palmitic and Stearic acids — that help to improve the skin's natural barrier. Shea Butter also protects skin from damage from the environment like pollutants.

Coconut Oil - Is amazing at moisturizing dry skin, including in people with conditions such as eczema. Coconut Oil can also help reduce inflamation and promote wound healing. Coconut Oil also contains antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral properties.

Aloe Vera - Researchers concluded that the use of Aloe Vera as a home remedy for diaper rash was “clearly supported” because of Aloe Vera's anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. We use 99% pure organic Aloe Vera.

Bentonite Clay – Helps absorb bacteria away from the skin. Bentonite is actually one of the most effective and powerful healing clay's. A recent study showed that around 93% of the infants who received the clay had improved rashes within 6 hours, with 90% completely healed in 3 days.

Rose Hip Oil - Has anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

Chamomile Oil - Is known for its wound healing, including sores and inflammation.

Vitamin E- Is of course moisturizing, wound healing and reparative.

Rosemary Extract - A strong antioxidant.

Calendula Oil - Is often used on skin to keep wounds clean and help new tissue to grow, especially when skin is exhibiting signs of tenderness, redness, or inflammation.

Jojoba oil - Is actually a wax ester with almost exact properties to our skin's own sebum. This means the "oil" is able to penetrate deeply, reaching below the top layer of skin for maximum nourishment. 

Yarrow Oil - has anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

Tea Tree Oil - Tea tree oil contains a number of compounds, including terpinen-4-ol, that have been shown to kill certain bacteria, viruses, and fungi, preventing infection, and promoting healing.

Pure Beeswax - Helps to keep formula melded and unwanted moisture away from skin. We use a pinch of beeswax instead of Zinc Oxide.

Sweet Harvest Farms handmade organic bath and body products are non-GMo, Soy FREE, DO NOT contain Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfates, Phosphates, harsh Chemicals, Mineral Oils or Petroleum by-products of any kind

How to use: Clean affected area with cool or tepid water using Oh Baby Oh Organic Soap. Gently pat dry area with paper towel and throw towel away. Always apply with clean dry fingers/hands. DO NOT put damp fingers/hands into ointment or put fingers back into ointment to get more ointment without cleaning fingers thoroughly first.

Remember, You need just a tad -literally, so this jar packs a punch and will last a very long time!

When raising my babies I found that some level of diaper rash, no matter how hard you try, is unavoidable. When this happened I found that after applying the diaper cream and allowing the baby to be without a diaper (free to breath!) for extended periods of time helped hasten healing.

This is also amazing for adult diaper rash too!

The Original Organic Handmade Neem Oil Soap

Neem Oil has been used in India for hundreds of years for many health issues to include skin ailments. Neem contains antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, antihistamine and anti-microbial properties making it perfect for problem skin issues. Neem Oil comes from the Neem Tree which can grow quite large. Their leaves are also used to treat eczema and psoriasis to name a few but the oil derived comes from their olive-like fruit. Neem Oil is shown to help prevention of diseases because of its ability to inhibit bacterial growth and modulation of genetic pathways. It also contains compounds of nimbin, limonoids and quercetin which what give it the properties mentioned above.  It is a dark greenish color that has a strong and earthy scent.

Neem oil is highly sought after as a natural skin care regimen as it is high in anti-oxidants and carotenoids which help protect the skin from oxidative stress and damage. Neem Oil is also high in Vitamin E, triglycerides, and calcium so it can penetrate the out layers of the skin to help heal and repair skin damage. It is also used for its insecticidal and anti-inflammatory properties (one reason we use it in our Dog Soap, Skeeter Eater and Tick-no-Stick). Traditionally Neem Oil has been used to treat skin ulcers, skin diseases, wounds and itching.

So now that you have the "skinny" on Neem Oil you may wonder why you don't see more of it. Well, I think the answer could be two-fold. It has a powerful earthy aroma which can be off putting. We use essential Lavender and Lemon Oil not only to help with the strong scent, but also because these oils have their own therapeutic properties. Crushed Neem leaves are added within and on top for a soft exfoliation. Neem oil is often used for eczema, psoriasis and fungal issues of the skin and those that use it can benefit from its medicinal properties.

Another reason is because people are just now beginning to learn the benefits of organic and natural ways to help heal without relying on pharmaceuticals that can contain substances that can actually be harmful when used for any length of time.

Like all of our organic handmade bath and body products we have developed our own proprietary recipe using this ancient oil to help with all skin issues.

Ingredients: Saponified Organic oils of Shea Butter, Coconut oil, Castor Oil, Palm Oil (sustainable), and Neem Oil, Vitamin E, Orris Root, Rosemary Extract, and therapeutic essential oils of Lavender and Lemon, Neem Leaves.

Note: Remember to take caution. Anyone can have adverse reactions to any element. Neem Oil tar as well. We recommend doing a patch test on your ankle to make sure you are not allergic to it. While it can be used all over, it is best to use on any areas of your skin that you may have issues with.

Pine tar has been used for over 100 years for itchy, dry skin, psoriasis, eczema, scalp issues, and even ringworm.

Pine tar treats fungal skin issues by acting as a natural antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and anti-itch agent. It inhibits fungal growth, relieves the intense itching and scaling associated with conditions like athlete's foot and ringworm, and reduces the redness caused by inflammation

Sometimes the oldest remedies are still worth keeping around.

Ingredients: 

Saponified Organic oils of Shea Butter, Coconut oil, Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Palm Oil (sustainable), and pure Creosote-Free Pine Tar along with Vitamin E and Orris Root, and Rosemary Extract.

Lemon Verbena, Coconut and a touch of Lavender have also been added to smooth out the strong smell of Pine Tar. The dark color is from the Pine Tar, but remember, there are all the other organic oils in this soap as well to keep your skin soft, smooth and clean!

"CJ, I followed your suggestions: 1) I shampooed with your Pine Tar soap for 2 weeks, then switched to the No More Eczema soap. 2) I stopped shampooing every day, now just 3 days/wk. next week I go to 2 days/wk. 3) I brush my hair every day, about 40-50 strokes. I started this routine about 6 weeks after speaking with you and before my 6 month dermatology appointment.

At my appointment I told my dermatologist that I was trying something new since the shampoos that I had been using (especially the prescription one) were not giving me any relief from the itching and in fact it seemed worse. I explained that I met a lady (you) who makes her own soap which has helped other people with scalp problems. I told him that I only shampoo my hair with your Pine Tar soap, that I stopped shampooing every day, now just 3 times/wk and that I have been brushing my hair daily. I told him that I have had some relief from the itching, but it still itches at night. That overall there is less itching.

He examined my scalp and he said that it was no longer inflamed and that my scalp actually looked healthy! He said that it is OK to keep doing what I am doing. “This is my son,Alex. Alex is 12 and has been diagnosed with psoriasis. (First picture) It took 4 months of several Doctor visits to get this diagnosis.
