Saranoni Blankets: What We Recommend Instead

We don't carry Saranoni anymore.

If you came here looking for a Saranoni blanket review, that's the honest answer up front, and we'd rather say it plainly than let you click through three pages to find out. The brand left our stockist list recently. Nothing dramatic happened — suppliers come and go, especially for a small shop that buys one brand at a time.

But the reason people search for Saranoni hasn't gone anywhere. You want a blanket that feels like something. Weighty. Cloud-soft. The kind a toddler drags around until it falls apart. So rather than delete this page, here's what we'd actually hand you if you walked into the shop in Cañon City and asked for one.

What people were really after

Nearly everyone who asked us about Saranoni wanted one of three things: the heft of a double-layer minky blanket, the breathability of muslin for a warm nursery, or simply a gift that feels expensive when it's unwrapped.

Those are three different blankets. It's worth knowing which one you're shopping for before you spend.

If you wanted the weight and the softness

This is the closest thing to what Saranoni was known for — substantial, plush, and heavy enough to drape rather than float.

• Goosewaddle Gray Knit Blanket — a chunky knit with real body to it. The one we reach for most often when someone wants a keepsake blanket rather than a practical one.

If you wanted muslin and breathability

Muslin is the better answer for a warm room, a summer baby, or anyone nervous about overheating. It gets softer every wash, and it's the fabric we sell the most of.

A note on sizes, since it catches people out

A swaddle blanket is roughly 47 inches square — big enough to wrap a newborn properly. A stroller blanket is smaller and meant for the stroller, car seat or a nap on the sofa. A throw is for the family, not the baby. Plenty of blankets get returned because someone bought the wrong one of the three, so it's worth checking the dimensions on the product page before you order.

What we'd tell you in the shop

Buy one good blanket and one you don't mind losing. The good one becomes the photo blanket and the keepsake. The other one lives in the car, goes to daycare, and gets dragged across a parking lot. Almost nobody needs five.
